Multiracial, multifaith community organizing in Minnesota to build power for LGBTQ liberation.

Prism is a statewide network committed to building power for LGBTQ+ equality by organizing people and resources across Minnesota. Bringing together faith communities, allies, and advocates from diverse traditions, Prism works to advance a shared vision of justice and inclusion for all.

In an era when LGBTQ+ rights are under increasing attack, Prism mobilizes faith leaders and communities for bold, strategic action. Connecting advocates and communities across lines of race, faith, and geography, Prism builds our capacity to influence policy, shape culture, and create a more inclusive future. Prism is grounded in the principles of grassroots organizing, emphasizing the power of relationships and the need to align people and money to achieve systemic change. Through collective action, storytelling, and advocacy, we challenge harmful narratives and policies while advancing a vision of belonging and dignity for all.

In partnership with other movements for justice, we are creating a future where every voice matters, every community is valued, and every person has the freedom to thrive. Through organizing, Prism is working toward a Minnesota where LGBTQ+ people are empowered to lead lives of authenticity, freedom, and opportunity.

Rev. Oby Ballinger founded Prism in January 2025, following decades of volunteer and staff roles in community organizing for racial, economic, climate, and LGBTQ justice. Rev. Ballinger lives with his husband in St. Paul, Minnesota, and previously served several Twin Cities congregations as a pastor in the United Church of Christ since 2009.
